You won’t believe that something this delicious and sinful tasting can be healthy.
I whipped this up one day for my fiancé Todd. He loves anything with chocolate and peanut butter (who doesn’t?!) but being vegan AND sugar free really limits our options. Lucky for all of us, my experiment turned out to be a good one. So grab your Vitamix and get ready to be blown away.
Note: if you don’t have a Vitamix or other commercial grade blender, get one! Or replace the dates with some sweetener that your blender can handle.
1 cup almond milk or other non-dairy milk
3 Medjool dates
1 frozen banana
2 TB Cocoa or Cacao powder (I like my chocolate so I heap those spoons!)
1 heaping TB peanut butter (or raw almond butter!)
1 TB alcohol free Vanilla or 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
5 ice cubes
First blend the almond milk, dates, cocoa powder, peanut butter and vanilla until completely smooth and there are no date pieces left. Then add the frozen banana and ice and blend just until your shake is smooth. Any longer and the shake begins to melt. Now go impress your friends with this perfect summer day shake and thank me later.

Wow, I’ve never used dates to sweeten up my shakes before…I’ll have to try this!
I had a version of this just last night! Yum. I’ll try the vanilla next time. Vanilla bean seeds work great too.
I forgot that I have vanilla beans! Thanks for the suggestion. I’m going to try it with fresh vanilla that next time.
This sounds awesome! Have you ever tried avocado or spinach in your shakes?! I think avocado would be great in this one! I may try this later! I have all the ingredients except dates.
I haven’t tried anything green in this shake yet. But I’ll bet you could do both avo and spinach and it would still taste like a sinful dessert! Good ideas.
